Playing with Diamonds and Glass

So playing with glass isn’t only about working with glass. It is also about playing with diamonds.

Here I am using my flat lap machine to grind down my glass pendants to create a nice faceted edge. This is a disk that is 18″ in diameter and is covered with diamonds. You will see that I have water dripping on this spinning disk to not only lubricate the diamond pad, but also to keep the glass from heating up. If the glass heats up too much, it can cause cracks and chips.

I have 4 disks that I use on this flat lap. Each of these are higher in grit, so that they can create the perfect polish on the final piece of glass art.
